The Prophetic Prayer

Prophetic prayer refers to the prayer in which you speak the will and purpose of God into being by the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Man of God Praying
When a believer worships the Lord in Spirit and in truth in the place of prayer, the Holy Spirit causes His Word to come forth from a brethren with power and authority.  A good example of a prophetic prayer is Jonah’s prayer to God when he was in the belly of the fish.

The bible in Jonah 2:1-4 says, “Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.”

When Jonah was in this situation he was good as dead, but in his hour of desperation in the fish’s belly, he refused to give up. Instead, he called upon God, because he wanted to see His Glory again. He wanted to see Jerusalem again, the city of the great King, where the temple of God was.

Jonah understood perfectly what he was doing. He was in a terrifying hopeless situation, but then he prophesied: “I will look again toward thy holy temple.”

This is a classic example of the prophetic prayer. Therefore it is important for a believer to pray this way. In the prophetic prayer, believers put to work the gift of prophesy by which they speak forth the mind of God. By so doing, believers speak the will of God into being by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, and it becomes.

Johan turned the fish’s belly into a temple and had a church right there. He made up his mind not to wallow in self- pity but to give sacrifices of praise to God with the voice of thanksgiving. God was moved by this type of prayer and He spoke to the fish to let Jonah go. It responded and vomited and vomited Jonah on dry ground.

If believers can speak prophetic utterances that will bring about the miracle one require and prod them towards fulfilling God’s purpose for a believer’s life. Amen!!
