Marriage
was originally intended to be a covenant between a man, a woman, and
God. God’s plan is that the husband and wife promise to be faithful
to each other and remain together until “death do us apart”.

There
is the statistics that 33, 4 percent of marriages do not last for 15
years. This shows that somewhere along the line, God’s original
intent for marriage has been ignored. This sacred pledge or an
indefinite contract between a husband and wife has not been kept in
many situations.
In
place of marriage, a growing number of couples do not even make the
promise anymore and just live together. Again, God’s plans for
cohabitation are ignored.
Marriage
is for this lifetime and will not continue in the next life for those
couples that are going to heaven. In Mark 12: 25 Jesus said, “For
in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage,
but are as the angels of God in heaven.”
What
is sad is that many marriages have failed. More would last a
lifetime, if both men and women would put God first in their lives,
and live the married life as God intended it to be.
William
Phelps said, “The highest happiness on earth is in marriage. Every
man who is happily married is a successful man even if he has failed
in everything else.”
